Our school is a public primary&secondary school which is located in the centre of Yalova. Yalova is a city located in northwestern Turkey, on the eastern coast of the Sea of Marmara, and is the capital of the Yalova Province. Yalova has a number of tourist attractions, such as the köşk (Ottoman-Turkish style mansion) used by Atatürk during his visits to the city, and of course, its famous for its hot springs in Termal, which gets its name from the Latin word thermae. You can also visit Karaca Arboretum on the way to Termal. Furthermore, one can go to İstanbul by ferry on 45 minutes and can go to Bursa within 60 minutes by car. So, Yalova is a seaside city which is in the centre of the Marmara Region.
Our school was built three years ago and its name “Mareşal Fevzi Çakmak” came from Turkish History. He was the commander of the Turkish armed forces.
In our school, there is a computer lab, a library, a foreign language classroom and there is a special classroom that has a different curriculum. This class is for our disabled pupils. This special curriculum offers them to enhance themselves in a particular way. Furthermore, in our English lessons the students have drama lessons and they learn English by acting and living. The Comenius Project supplies us and our students to have knowledge about the other foreign countries’ ethnic structure and culture and have a chance to share their experiences with eachother.
